Minimum Habitability Requirements

  • Weatherproof roof, walls, doors, and windows
  • Plumbing in good working order; hot and cold running water
  • Heat capable of maintaining 70Β°F in living areas (Β§ 1941.1)
  • Electrical wiring in good condition, connected to a power source
  • No infestation of rodents, insects, or vermin
  • Adequate garbage receptacles with regular removal
  • Working carbon monoxide detectors (CC Β§ 17926.1)
  • Working smoke detectors on each floor and in each bedroom
  • Safe floors, stairways, and railings
  • Natural lighting in every habitable room
